Maaji has hit Canada! A few months ago I was lucky enough to be introduced to the wonderful world of Maaji and I also had the incredible opportunity to visit Colombia and see how and where this beautiful swim collection is created. As a swimwear specialist and agent in Canada I am always looking for the next new brand or trend in swimwear to bring to our retailers. We have a great summer climate and many beautiful beaches and cottage countries throughout Canada. We also love to travel and buy new swimwear to take with us on our adventures all year round. Canadians, much like Colombians are fun loving people. We like to be active, we are healthy and we love the mountains and the beaches.
I have been following a few brands over the years and was aware that Colombia was becoming a very recognized place for swim and lingerie. Having never been there my image of Colombia was of a vibrant place, full of music, dancing and bright colors. I had the privilege of visiting many regions of Colombia a few months ago from Medellin, to Cartagena and Baranquila. The people were amazing; proud and welcoming. The cities were diverse from lush mountain country side to tropical beaches to urban chaos. It was also amazing to see some of the changes that were happening in their urban centres. But the most exciting thing for me was to be introduced to the Maaji family and to get a chance to see where they work, live and play. Maaji embodies all of the fun and playful vibes of Colombia. It was amazing to visit their factories and see the product being manufactured and designed. We saw their retail store and we attended a fashion show.
Since returning to Canada we have had an incredible reaction to Maaji. Our Canadian girl really loves and relates to this brand. It has such a whimsical spirit and it really stands out as the most unique and beautifully crafted swimwear on the floor right now. We have had incredible interest as well from the media and we have been invited to appear on several tv shows which have showcased the brand. It is an exciting time as we begin the launch of Spring 2013. I am sure that 2013 will be a great year for Maaji in Canada!
